Bloody Belly Island

Created at: 30/08/2010

An Island, inspired by what’s in the deep dark ocean – the smallest animals deep down, called comb jelly.

With dark orange long arms, indicating the visible part of the comb jelly in the dark – I wanted the water to make the ‘arms’ float, so that the Island would gently move, and thereby, come alive.

An Island with a mysterious look, inspired from the deep dark ocean, where fluourescent colorful sea creatures, move around slowly, unaware of the busy city life above them. Take a deep breath, and feel their calmness.

The Bloody Belly Island, is made of Orange Cable Pipes, that is usually used in the building industry to protect wires, in the ground or in concrete. Lizette wanted to use the dark orange color of them, to make ‘the arms’ of the Island, shine from within. A waterproof light-chain, is installed into each arm of ‘the animal’, that is finally connected to 220 V.
