illutron collaborative interactive art studio operates the art ship illutron - a floating culture house, workshop and event platform for installation art, music, fire, light, dance, film and more. The former entrepreneur platform, 480 tons of steel and 4 levels with a total 800 m2 of space, was bought in 2007 by the artists behind Half Machine. It is located at Teglholmen, Copenhagen South Harbour.

Manifesto 1.1

illutron is a haven for innovative thinking between art and technology. The physical location is a rusty barge in Copenhagen Harbour.

Here submarines and space rockets are built. Scrapped industrial robots are brought back to life. Here singing plants grow and classical music plays together with electronic music.

illutron is a space for adventures and experiments. Artistic and technological frontiers are challenged. Experiments can be based on intuition instead of reason.

Here people are creators, not consumers. Here the audience are participants, not passive observers. Here anything can happen.

Creative thinking emerges from below, as long as a fertile creative environment is fostered, where small seeds can find nourishment and grow roots and flower.

Technological progress happens in dialog with the surrounding society and refers to both the past and the future. Our art is a joint creative process in a group, a dialog between the group members and with cultural undercurrents in society. Art involves the audience, they become actors in dialog with the work of art, with its story.

Illutron offers collective illusions, fascinating illustrations and blinding illuminations, embracing new inspirational stories in and about the world.

We make the works of art and source code available under Creative Commons. We encourage others to expand on our work.

This manifest may not be printed on dead trees, but must be in dialogue with the times/our time and Illutrons members. If it takes on fixed and recognisable form the project has stranded/run aground.

Illutron er et frirum for nytænkning i spændingsfeltet mellem kunst og teknologi. Rammen er en rusten pram i Københavns Havn.

Her bygges ubåde og raketter. Her vækkes kasserede industrirobotter til live. Her vokser syngede planter og klassisk musik kan spille sammen med elektronisk. Her er plads til eksperimenter og oplevelser. Her kan kunstneriske samt teknologiske grænser udfordres. Her kan eksperimentes baseret på ens intuition i stedet for ens fornuft. Her er mennesket skaber, ikke forbruger. Her er publikum deltagere, ikke beskuere. Her kan alt ske.

Kreativ nytænkning og skabelse opstår nedefra, så længe der bliver skabt den rette grobund, hvor små frø kan få næring til at slå rødder og blomstre. Teknologisk udvikling sker i levende dialog med samfundet og refererer til både fortid og fremtid. Kunsten skabes af genbrugsmaterialer både som samfundsmæssig og æstetisk inspirationskilde. Kunst skabes i fællesskab, i en dialog mellem medlemmer og kulturelle strømninger i samfundet. Kunst involverer publikum, de bliver medaktører i en dialog med værkernes fortælling.
