Wave studies

Trying to gain a deeper understanding of surface propagation of impact waves in water. High speed video of impact - Note the cone into the water at impact

Using high speed footage and other means, I try to gain a deeper understanding of how surface waves propagate.

There are quite a lot of studies done on how ocean waves move. Wind generated waves etc.

But, at least so it seems, not many studies have been conducted on surface waves from object impacting water.

To get the musical bouys working, it has been nessecary to conduct some studies of my own, and this is my attempts to share these.

Lid impact

A pot lid impacting in the aquarium. Very drastic speed reduction.

Bottle impact

Coke bottle impact. Again, very little slowdown.

Hammer impact

High speed of hammer impact in tank. Virtually no slowdown.

Detailed study of impact

Trying to calculate speeds and energies at impact.
