Submarines

The Nautilus Experience is inspired by science fiction novelist Jules Verne, and his 1870 novel 'Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea' Currently our dream is exemplified by the submarine 'UC-2 Kraka' that can be seen moored next to M/S Halfmachine
UC-2 Kraka is a ‘functional sculpture’ in that it combines a fully functional ‘Das Boot’ style submarine – with seventeen windows making her a fantastic machine for experiencing the
silent underwater world near M/S Halfmachine. We dive at night with lights, or in daylight with the suns rays illumination the shallow waters – and enjoy 3D maneuvering next to debris and quays -
or we speed up and play dolphin while steering with the boats hydroplanes – in aero plane style. Kraka features a periscope and sonar, and gives her crew a new unusual perspective of our planet
and the sea.
Kraka is build, maintained and piloted by Claus Nørregard and Peter Madsen, and has functioned as a submersible dance floor and experience machine in association with the
experimental art – found at MSHM. Take a look at Kraka during a high speed dive here:

By may 3th 2008 UC2 Kraka is joined by the far larger UC3 Nautilus. Five times larger and displacing 32 tons – with more and bigger windows than ever – this new submarine
represents our most extreme hope and dreams for a unique underwater experience. UC3 is designed as a true seagoing vessel and will be deployed from Norwegian Fjords to
tropical reefs – and at depths of 100 meters plus.
