Move it! – Arduino to make things move
Created at: 20/02/2008
Taking apart old technology and making it move is the point of this workshop. It explores the potentials for moving objects using Arduino. Participants will explore how to program using an Arduino board and the Arduino programming environment.
Workshop Outline:
In this workshop, participants will learn how to connect recycled technology to the Arduino board and then to the computer. They will be introduced to the Arduino board and programming environment, and will be given a crash course in electronics and wiring.
Workshop Structure:
Participants will be shown examples of simple mechanical movement that is made possible by connecting recycled technology to the Arduino board.
The theory of “Make art from junk” will be explained, showing participants how all materials from the workshop are recycled, and can be reused in fantastic ways.
A basic introduction of Arduino will be conducted. Arduino is an open-source electronics prototyping platform that consists of a programmable hardware component and a straight forward programming environment .
Workshop will include information and guidance using actuators such as DC motors, servo motors, stepper motors, and fans.
Participants will use parts from printers, hard drives, scanners and basic computer components.
